I know the preppy chic can be smelled from miles away..... "Bless her heart" (insert southern drawl). This C. girl loves herself some prep indeed. Where does it derive from anyhow? My upbringing down south did not help the obsession one bit I am sure or a Momma that can matchy match and accessorize like it is know bodies business. There is just this part myself deep down inside that craves casual southern chic. Bold Prints and colors in a classic silhouette. I try to find balance residing in the mostly casual land of 10,000 lakes. But, the warmer weather begs for brightness! So, I go with it when I can. Now on my journey of health I find myself daydreaming more about clothes and planning upcoming weight loss milestones with wardrobe treats. A Lilly Pulitzer shift and a few pieces from the newly discovered designer Elizabeth McKay. Who completely reminds me of my favorite interior designer Palmer Weiss. Heck you might as well dress like you decorate your house:) Now here is lookey at some of my favorite's:
I just adore this printed shirt dress. So, timeless yet bold.
Sand Tunic in Fern Orange. *This reminds me of the wallpaper in our Memphis Dining Room growing up:)
Twiggy shift dress in yellow tulip. I think it should be named Mrs. Kennedy instead. So, classic.
Louise dress in Classic green.
Last, but not least the Sand Dress. Oh for gosh sakes this dress just oozes comfort and a walk on the Beach. PS can you tell I am so digging the Horsebit gold toggle closure on many of these dresses and shirt? Love, Love, that detail!
I just Love Elizabeth's vision and find so many elements in common when it comes to inspiration.
"I have always been inspired by color. As a child of the 80's, I grew up admiring the powerful colors and whimsical prints of the era. Color and print are the cornerstones of this line and define each collection I create. Each print is unique and speaks to me through color. The prints are bold, creative, colorful and conversational. I love matching up my prints with rich and luxurious fabrics – fabrics and textures that convey a feeling of time and place. I worship Grace Kelly and Jackie O. Both women embodied femininity, were impeccably dressed and maintained a timeless sense of style that could be contemporary in any year. I love women who dress for themselves and believe that casual never means careless. And, more than anything, I love creating timeless, versatile pieces that that are comfortable and wearable and represent true feminine expression." —Elizabeth
Please do go and check her out for yourself. Happy Tuesday Friends. Love, C.
