Happy Sunday! I thought my first "official" post would be about a topic close to my heart! The Rosary.
One of my first memories was sitting next to my Mother at St. Anne's Parish in Memphis, Tenn. while her fingers ran over her beautiful "necklace" of beads quietly mumbling the same words over and over again. There was great comfort in those quiet moments in church by my Mother's side. Long before I knew the prayers myself and my own deep love for the Rosary. She gave me such a gift...
A gift that would bring me back to my faith. A gift that would teach me the Story of Jesus's life and promises. A gift that calmed my spirit in the darkest of times. A gift that comforts, consoles and opens my heart each time. But, most of all. The ultimate gift of a precious relationship with the Blessed Mother and her beloved Son. The perfect devotion!!!
At this point in my life. I am in the process of being a sponsor for one of my Best Friends who has come to the Catholic faith. She has so many questions. Many I know, but some I do not. But, these questions are a gift for both of us. As a way for myself to grow in my own faith as I nurture her beginning faith. The Rosary was one of the first things I spoke with her about and many questions have arisen. So, I seek out the answers, knowing this will be a wonderful companion for her on this journey of learning and hopefully a lifelong passion of devotion that we can share together! On my recent searches I have found some wonderful resources.
~I am so eager to read this book by a fellow Minnesota Catholic Girl Liz Kelly. The Rosary-A Path to Prayer seems like a perfect companion for someone just discovering or looking to deepen there knowledge. I will for sure do a blog post review after I read it and share it with you all! * The Author sounds like amazing Catholic girl and has some interesting other books as well.
~ I found this site (The Holy Rosary) dedicated to the Rosary. A Spiritual wealth of Knowledge!
~My favorite new discovery in helping pray the Rosary is Come, Pray The Rosary.org A beautiful on-line way to pray the rosary with prompts and others around the world. Created in 2008 it now reaches the globe:) Quite honestly is awesome and I love it's features. Images from the holy land as you recite the rosary and virtual rosary diagram showing you what bead you should be on. It also offers wording in English or Spanish as You pray alone or chime in with the perpetual rosary. Please do check it out!
~ My traditional favorite is the little guide I showcased above with the Rosary. I adore this sweet little booklet and have used it since I was a teenager and recently bought the new version with the added Luminous Mysteries. The pictures and meditations are just wonderful and I honestly would be lost without it.
All this Rosary talk. I think it is time for my daily Rosary:) I hope this post has given you some ideas and I would really love to hear what the rosary means to you? Love, C.
