got a pretty light?

No, I am not talking about a cig light:) But, light fixtures. Yep light fixtures and these are not any ordinary ones. There reproductions with quite a story find behind them. School House Electric caught my eye originally in Domino Magazine's 2009 decorating book and I have seen there lovely light fixtures popping up here and here.*** I especially adore Studio Calico's founder April Foster's Farm Make-over!!! Not just for the fixtures! It is a amazing transformation. Worth a visit. The girl's got some mad decorating abilities. 

So, what got me thinking of all this lighting business? Yesterday's post about my dream house. If you have not guessed by now... when I am not writing, memory keeping or dreaming about history and fashion. I am always loving some decor planning and living in my historic neighborhood only fuels the fire even more. All the little details, including lighting:) One of my favorite inspirations School House Electric Co. GET Inspired SECTION. Oh it is chalk full of ideas and images. Found First.

OK, so I was browsing Pottery Barn for some Stella & Dot Trunk Show Display ideas. Then of course got a little side tracked and came across these lovelies... 

I saw the Pottery Barn price and about fell off my chair. $129.00. When I have two of these perfect pieces sitting in the trunk of my car for nearly two years after stopping at a neighborhood vintage (garage) sale. I know. I know. But, they store perfect there:) But, right after rediscovering them on-line. I quickly went down to the garage and grabbed those babies to bring upstairs. While inspecting them, I found the price tag of $10.00. Yep. $10.00 and now I know what to do with them. They need a little TLC, but with some sanding and non-poisonous staining of course. Won't these be lovely for Autumn entertaining and of course Thanksgiving?

Hello December. Holiday Frazzle.

This morning I awoke with Panic. It is Dec. 1st.  And my grand pre-plan holiday time saving ideas might  have  failed me again this  season. Is it too late? I hope I can catch up.  So, to calm myself down, I sat down with one of my many yellow legal pads. A old Holiday issue of Blueprint and a big ol cup of coffee. Began to make another list and take breaks with paging through the magazine. Jump starting my Holiday action plan again  I hope. 

 The  list w/reminders:

1. Remember I am not Martha Stewart and do not have a staff helping me. Even though that would Rock!!!!!! 

2. Make Christmas Cards. Find address's. 

3. Skip Holiday newsletter, another year without one won't hurt. Maybe next year or never? 

4. Put up tree. Figure out a new spot. Living Room Vs. Dining Area window.

5. Forget the long list of  Christmas inspired crafts. Just focus on the knitting. 

6. Again I am not Martha Stewart.

7.  Plan 12 pages before Christmas project. Keep it simple. 

8. Bake sugar cookies. Pre-made gooey goodness ones of course:)

9. Order my annual  Kate Spade 2010 desktop calendar.Done:) 

10. And Old Holiday magazines never seem to lose there inspiration lustre (see below for details).

Ok that is not too bad. You gotta love lists for giving the holiday frazzle some perspective.

Amy Butler really knows how to capture that  perfect timeless but Modern Holiday decor.  

Still love this tree as much as the first time I saw it back in 2007. And using fabric as wrapping paper is still genius too. 2 gifts in one for sure.  Do have a wonderful Wed. Friends.

Visiting Tennessee & studio desk...

Now that the Autumn leaves  in southern Minnesota are at there peak and  snow even fell on Friday (we had flippin 4 inches; see picture below).

 I am getting a little sad. Why Autumn do you come and go so quickly? I want to keep you going as long as possible. Your such a good thing. Speaking of good things and Autumn. I got a e-mail last week  from Kate Spade. They are doing there annual autumn  pre-holiday giveaway to create buzz and this one is the best yet....  A trip for two to the city that never sleeps (NYC).  Go here to enter. This "little" lovely giveaway reminded me of  Kate Spade's  2002 Fall Ad Campaign. Seriously my favorite of all time- not just selling products, but the kate spade lifestyle. Pure advertising genius.  The charming story of a fictiously fashionable family visiting there daughter Tennessee in NYC. Staying @ the Carlyle. Going to Museums, walking at dusk in central park and shopping.

Studio Desk

Ready-Made Magazine would be proud. When Ahmed and I went up to the Twin Cities recently. We made my regular stop @ Ikea. Looking for a studio desk was not agreeing with me. I saw nothing that spoke to my design heart. I have been stuck on a design I saw in Blueprint Magazine ages ago. So, we left Ikea without a desk and plans to make our own (he needs one too).  I revisited this very old post and then we headed to Lowes with all my renewed inspiration to get all the supplies:) It is all together and just ready for the final touches.[Side note: And I am recovering from my polyurethane closed window high. You'd think I would of learned by now]  Here is a little peek with me trying out some of my desk accessories that finally have a home.

Favorite Friday 1.

Oh, it is getting chilly here in Minnesota and we are expecting this weekend a little snow dusting. I am not ready for that. But, it is  preparing me for my winter nesting rituals. More on that in November. 

But, Friday (today) I have  decided to share my favorite people, places and of course things. My Friend Cameron does this diligently every Friday and I so look forward to seeing the picture and story she will share. So, here is my little today's twist in no particular order.

Kate Spades 2010 desktop calendar. Now also available  in a  wall calendar option. And so enjoying the amazing illustrator they picked this year- Bella Foster.

Oh this issue has to be the best fall one yet. So, worth every penny. Good job Martha and your staff:)

 I want my own A-Frame house.  And I am so excited to soon have my very own subscription to Ready-Made, thanks to my friend Deb. And the fun part we are doing a little bartering system. I am sending her some remnants of my old Hitchcock Blonde kit  and my Autumn Nostalgic class.  I am so excited to put this together. I love sending packages:) And especially for Deb.

Last night I called my friend Cameron to share some exciting news that she would understand:) And it was so good talking with her. I will say again. I wish we lived closer!!!!!!  Just love this girl.  As mentioned before avery Friday on her blog she showcases a photo from her life and amazing travels. I just adore this shot  in Northern Italy.  It has become my own  Un-official Oprah breathing space picture. So, calming and serene. Thank you Cameron for your friendship and your eye for capturing such beautiful things.

Yes, a facial  tissue box. And my scrap crap behind it:)  The other day I was at Target, not a unusual accurance.  I needed to tissues  and was well aware that box design choices were going to beyond ordinary. Then I saw this Autumn  mod  design from there house brand Up and Up. So, love Targets attention to detail and design:) 

Oh this was fun. Might have to do this every Friday:) 

Now onto the weekend. Gonna be  do some major creating.  Working on Ali's Week 2 of her Bps workshop. Try to  finish  two other projects and work on some pages.
