Matchbook Issue (Super) 8.

Now in it's 8th issue. Matchbook Magazine again has charmed my socks off.  This issue alone with it's Grace Kelly Style tribute and modern take for today's Match Girl oozed perfection. I know the next statement I will say is kind brazen and bold but I am going to say it nonetheless. It is a classic in the making!!!!  The Vogue for Classic girls of all ages. Move over Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Elle. There is a new sister in town and stealing your thunder big time. My only complaint it is not in Print. So, I could post-it and note take the heck out of it. But, Overall I am beyond Grateful to Katie and Jane for taking on this adventure and creating one charming magazine endeavor!  

I am always so inspired to find themes that intrigue me and be able to get more tidbit's and reminders on how to live a timeless stylish life! Including the reminder of the Super 8 camera on the cover this September issue. Remembering my Grandpa filming me as a little girl and our nights in my grandparents living room with the lights low watching the reels of film.  The grain and the silence of the technicolor  images of a time I only heard of from my Mother. Seeing my Grandparents, Uncles,Aunts and Momma young. It was pure magic. I so glad my Grandfather took the time to be the family filmaker:) And I love how Matchbook Magazine conjured up that memory for me. 

If you have a iphone there is a fabulous app (super 8) to make your own vintage grainy super 8 Home Movies. *Someday between Instagram and Super 8 my future children will be terribly confused at what era they grew up:) Wink. I llok forward to trying it for myself soon. But, I have heard great reviews. Let me know if you have tried it yet?  Ido hope you had a wonderful Labor day weekend:) Love, C.

Grace's Big Day Revisited.

Princess Grace and Prince Rainier had few fond memories of there publicity zoo of a wedding in April 1956. But, for me growing up it was pure magic. Yes, anyone that has known me from childhood knows my love for all things Grace and her adopted country of Monaco. I hope you enjoy the flashback...

Grace & Jackie.

Hello:) I have to confess I wrote up this post after Mondays's Kelly Bag Tribute. Thought I would share this and Just Keep on the style roll this week with some Jackie and Grace today:) I love this Grimaldi visit circa 1961 for Lunch with The Kennedy's at the White House.  

Growing up as child of the 80's, I could of never asked for two better role models amongst a Debbie Gibson and Tiffany era of excess:) As a Girl, I loved how Grace and Jackie were the same age and both devout Catholics. Then Young women with independence and determination before Men, marriage and family defined there lives. But, now as an adult and in my 30's, I see admiration not so much in there perfection of fashion choices. But, the wonderful dignity they lived throughout there lives. True class.

Hermes Sac à dépêches...

or today better known as The Kelly Bag. Since Sunday I shared my most recent Handbag purchase and mentioned in my Page "The Kelly" once again. I thought it was high time to do a tribute.

Hermes first created Sac à dépêches in 1892 as a large saddle carrier and then downsized it in the 1930's for chic women's daywear. It had a quiet high-end parisian following for many years before Princess Grace of Monaco stepped out of her car on a visit to the US. Carrying this lovely structured bag in front her to then conceal her growing royal baby bump. The picture showcased in Life Magazine, created a buzz that is now legendary. Sac à dépêches from that time forward became known as The Kelly Bag. 

Everyone who has hung in here with me in blog land. I am sure is beyond exhausted hearing about my love obsession. Since the first time I laid eyes on Princess Grace with one as a kid. I have dreamt, dreamt and dreamt. Hermes has always held this mystique for me. Yes, there is the (Jane) Birkin Bag (slouchy version) that sees more use with the modern day jet set. I am all about the structure and timelessness the Kelly oozes. It is a bag that carries quiet simplicity in such a logo world. Where generations of Mothers and daughters carry them proudly. Handing them down with the ultimate knowledge that Quality reigns over quantity in Classic Style.

Speaking of Hermes and Classic style, I can not forget to mention the SCARF. I remember that Grace used a Hermes scarf as stylish alternative of a medical sling when she broke her arm. I finally found a image of it after all these years. How Chic is that?!?!?
